First of all, the vocabulary.
According to Wikipedia, carpentry is:

So a carpenter would be, still according to Wikipedia:
“A carpenter is a skilled craftsman who performs carpentry -- a wide range of woodworking that includes constructing buildings, furniture, and other objects out of wood. The work generally involves significant manual labor and work outdoors, particularly in rough carpentry.”
Now that we know a little more about the vocabulary, lets talk about
the fine woodworking.
Considering molding to give your home the warmth of the wood is a good idea.
We do know now that a carpenter will basically do the rough part, the main
frame and structure, of the woodworking crafts. But who will do the fine woodworking,

Wood mouldings can be apply to many diffrent architectures such as doors and windows frames. Amongst the diffrent varieties of this decorative fine woodworking, you’ll find many ways to use molding for baseboards, chair rails and of cours the famous and classic crown mouldings. The crown moulding is the one you’ll see on the top of the walls most of the time at the jointing of the ceiling.
We can classify wall mouldings into three groups, each based on their position on the wall. The lower one on the wall would be classified as baseboard moulding, the middle one as the chair rail moulding. Both of them are used for their decorative aspect and to protect walls from been damaged.
